Speech Tools

Breathing is the foundation of speech production.

Speech begins with:

  • Inhalation (breathing in): filling the lungs with air
  • Exhalation (breathing out): releasing air used to produce sound

During exhalation:

  • Air passes through the vocal cords to create sound
  • The sound is then shaped by the tongue, lips, and other articulators

Efficient breath control is essential for:

  • Voice strength
  • Speech fluency
  • Producing longer phrases without interruption

Breathing difficulties can lead to weak voice, broken speech, and poor control over speaking rhythm.
